Zak Wauters is a 2021 C/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Dike, IA who attends Dike-New Hartford. Ran a 7.27 second sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a medium frame and present strength in the lower half. Starts from a low and even stance and receives well, gaining ground to second base through a quick exchange and recording a 2.03 second pop time. Has a short and compact arm stroke, making accurate throws from an over the top slot at 74 miles per hour. Has a slightly open stance at the plate, with a high hand set and rotational lower half. Cuts off from extension at times, showcasing a middle of the field approach with some present bat speed. Showed the ability to get hands extended in game action, driving a loud double to left field. Secondary right-handed pitcher that starts from the windup, with a small side step into a belt high leg lift. Stays slightly flexed at gather, going to drop and drive actions down the mound while finishing on line through extension. Has a long arm action from a three-quarter slot, showing good arm speed and creating good downward plane with the fastball up to 80 miles per hour. Shows developing feel to spin a curveball with 11-5 shape and and good depth, landing it in the strike zone with some consistency. Good student.
