Clayton Young is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-5 220 lb. frame from Humble, TX who attends Atascocita HS. Extra big and athletic look, very good present strength. Low effort delivery, upper half rotational mechanics, limited lower body use, arm works smooth and easy. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, good arm side running action, showed the ability to get the pitch to both sides of the plate. Soft curveball spin but very consistent with location and use, developing change up. Can mix up pitches and locations and get hitters guessing. Will improve basic stuff with better lower half use. Left handed hitter, spread open stance, handles the barrel well with pull to mid field contact. Very good defensive first baseman with excellent hands, especially on pop ups. Good student.
