LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Brian Shore is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Longview Pine Tree HS, residing in Longview, TX. Shore has a strong build, with a durable 6'3" 195 lb. frame. He is built like an innings eater and has a chance to continue to fill out. Shore was ranked #51 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. He pitches from an over the top slot, with a two part arm action on the backside. He has some deep extension with his arm on the backside and hid the ball well during his delivery. Shore is still developing and showed glimpse of his future but touching up to 89 and sitting 85-88 with the fastball. He got good down angle with the fastball. Shore's best pitch is a 75-76 mph curveball that showed flashes of being a plus pitch. He throws it hard and aggressively. There was also a third pitch that showed very good promise. It was either a change-up or split finger fastball, thrown 81 mph. That pitch had downward action at the plate like a splitter, so that is what it is in this report. Shore's curveball is a very interesting pitch and his arm is quite good. At this point he is a solid D1 prospect and a follow for the draft, though he may not shine as brightly with the high number of hard throwers in the Lone Star State. Follow him, he has a chance to be a good one.
