Juan Cerda is a 2019 C/RHP, OF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Montgomery. Cerda has a medium sized frame with a lean athletic build. Defensively he showed quick transfers and was best when he wasn't rushing. He showed quick feet with good arm strength up to 78 MPH. He made good throws with carry and showed catch and throw tools. Cerda also worked out from the outfield with some athleticism to his actions. He also showed good arm strength up to 89 MPH. At the plate Cerda starts with an upright square stance with a high back elbow. He has a higher hand set and has a downhill path to the baseball. He has good shift in his swing and a loose path to the baseball. He creates torque in his swing and showed some strength in his swing. Cerda pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. He threw 3 pitches for strikes and showed a clean delivery. Very good student.
