Murphy Flood is a 2019 1B/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-2 179 lb. frame from Dalton, GA who attends Southeast Whitfield County. Large build, tall, lean and really projectable. Ran a 6.94 second 60 yard dash. Primary first baseman, sits back on the ball fielding in a slightly high position but it plays, clean actions all around with nimble footwork leading into throws, good arm strength topping out at 85 mph on throws to third base. Secondary righthanded pitcher, starts windup with a simple side step into a high leg lift with some coil at balance point, short and loose arm action up to an over the top arm slot, gets good extension down the mound while landing on a stiff front side. Fastball is mostly straight but flashed some cut when working to glove side, would like to see him get downhill to be more effective with the fastball, topped out at 82 mph, wraps wrist when throwing his breaking ball, curveball showed 12-to-6 shape and short depth, flashed a straight changeup. Righthanded hitter, big leg lift trigger, bat wraps at load, longer swing with a downhill plane, showed the ability to hit line drives to all fields during batting practice that showed up in game as well. Fairly interesting prospect especially on the mound with some height to his ceiling. Great student.
