Scott Shaw is a 2019 OF/RHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Cherry Hill, NJ who attends Cherry Hill West High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, present strength with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes long strides moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front and funnels into a full arm action, extra step moving into release and can continue to incorporate additional lower half, ball comes out clean with carry. Also pitched, short step moving into leg lift just below belt; incorporates lower half to get down the mound with drive off back side with a short arm action working to a three-quarters release point. Filled the zone with fastball and topped out at 77 mph, got on top well and maintained release point on curveball. Showed 12-6 shape and mixed consistently to keep hitters off balance; curveball served as strikeout pitch. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a simple toe tap trigger used for timing at start of swing. Contact oriented approach and shows feel for the barrel with a linear path through the zone. Shifts well through lower half and showed ability to work all fields. Very good student.
