2018 Southeast Prospect Showcase
Nathan Boyce is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-3 155 lb. frame from Loganville, GA who attends Walnut Grove. Tall and lanky frame with lots of physical projection remaining. Ran a 7.20 second 60 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins windup with a side step up to a high leg lift, bends at balance point, gets some use of his lower half but will improve arm strength with more momentum carried to the plate at release, quick arm action up to a high 3/4 arm slot, works downhill creating plenty of angle to the plate. Fastball topped out at 84 mph with occasional cutting action to the pitch, mixes in a sharp curveball with short 11-to-5 breaking action, mixed in a straight changeup as well that he is able to land for strikes, filled up the strike zone well with a three pitch mix. Secondary outfielder, moves to the baseball with developing footwork, could get more from his lower half coming through the baseball but has arm strength, quick release topping out at 84 mph. Righthanded hitter, wide base to start, soft load leading to a compact swing path, downhill plane to the ball staying mostly inside to it, some barrel feel with the ability to line the ball to the opposite field.
