2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
EJ Exposito is a 2019 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Central Islip, NY who attends St. John the Baptist. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Primary shortstop with clean, fluid footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and worked through exchange quickly. Flashed good first step angles while moving to each side for the baseball. Created accurate, on line carry across the infield topping at 87 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, slightly open stance and simple front side trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Showed a loose hand path to baseball with present bat speed through extension. Generated loud jump off the barrel while employing a gap to gap approach. Also pitched showing a smooth paced medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated good downhill plane with run to arm side, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with tight spin and late depth in the low 70's. Showed good feel for the zone and consistently attacked the bottom quadrants of the zone. Named to the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
