Yordani Carmona is a 2019 1B/LHP with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends Archbishop McCarthy HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a strong, mature frame with physical strength throughout. Primary lefthanded pitcher, compact delivery with leg lift up past belt, stays short and compact with arm action through back side which helps hides the ball well while working to a high three-quarters slot. Quick arm and gets on top consistently, generates solid plane on fastball to bottom of zone and peaked at 89 mph. Strides on line and holds out of the stretch, works mostly arm side but advanced feel to mix. Tight rotation with 1-7 shape to curveball, short depth at 75 mph; slows slightly on release of changeup at 80 mph but shows a feel with life down. All six outs came via strikeout. Short steps at first base and fields out front, quick transfer into same compact and clean arm stroke, developing footwork off the bag. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box, wide stride with simple leg lift trigger. Generates extension out front with line drive swing plane, creates nice bat speed and shows quick hands. Incorporates strength well, shows balance throughout and carry off barrel. Named to Junior National Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Miami.
