Michael Carlone is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Westfield, NJ who attends Westfield. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Works to a flexed back side at gather and utilized drop and drive actions to the plate. Lands at a slightly closed position on front side while releasing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Generated solid downhill angle through the zone with a fastball that flashed occasional run in the mid 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had proper shape with sharp spin and occasional late depth. Consistently filled the zone challenging hitters and worked to each edge of the plate. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Creates some shift into contact with linear actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel while primarily working between the outfield gaps. Stayed balanced throughout with the barrel control to work the ball the other way as well. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student as well.
