Tucker Biven is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from New Albany, IN who attends New Albany. Large, athletic frame with present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and shows sound defensive actions, soft hands out front with some snatch, glove skills play, clean release with easy arm strength and carry across the diamond, controls body in movements and shows lateral agility and quickness. Also pitched, high upside on the mound. Simple, athletic delivery and repeats it well, works with a compact and fast arm action through the backside. Fastball topped out at 95 mph, works quickly and can challenge hitters, works to both sides of the plate, flashed excellent life to heater at times. Changeup showed occasional fading life out to arm side up to 85 mph and flashed a breaker up to 81 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a medium hand set in the box; shows nice rhythm in swing, stays direct to the ball following hand load at start of swing. Compact through the zone, looks to work to all fields, easy and loose swing and shows some jump when squared, higher finish through point of contact, best juice to pull side. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Louisville.
