Jayson Hoopes is a 2019 RHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from Northfield, NJ who attends St. Augustine Prep. Lean and lanky build, very projectable physically. Athletic up tempo delivery, has energy at release, stays on line well and gets over his front side. Fastball topped at 91 mph, gets good sinking action at times, has been up to 93 at PG events this summer. Slurve type breaking ball, tends to shorten his arm stroke noticeably on his breaking ball, has good feel for the pitch and good spin but will have to make adjustments to avoid tipping the pitch. Showed good feel and fading life on his change up, potential three-pitch starter's mix. Good student, verbal commitment to Virginia.
