Luis Colon is a 2016 C/OF/MIF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from San Juan, PR who attends St. Mary HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and nice present strength throughout well proportioned frame. Primary catcher, has always shown very good arm strength at past events and plays very well from behind the plate, good footwork behind the plate with actions that will continue to develop, quick release with plus arm strength and carry behind the plate with top throw at 85 mph, gets on top of throws with a full arm action. Primary righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high back elbow in the box. Short and compact swing path to the ball, feel for the barrel with squared line drive contact coming off. High finish through the ball, flashes carry and strength when on time and projects for more with continued incorporation of lower half. Very good student.
