Alex Colla is a 5'10" 170 pound 2006 catcher from Lodi, California who has a strong muscular catchers body. He is very durable with good msucle tone and very strong shoulders. His body allows him to handle the grind and abuse that a catcher has to endure every day. Alex has a good arm and threw 70 mph from behind the plate with a 2.23 pop time. He has an accurate arm and is a good receiver. He has good footwork behind the plate. Colla runs well for a catcher by running a 7.33 60. He shows raw power with his bat and uses a very simple approach. He doesn’t use much of a stride and likes to spin on contact. He swings hard and has good bat speed. He has a line drive plane to his swing and is strong enough to handle a wooden bat right now. Alex is a solid prospect who is a good follow and a good student with a 3.3 gpa and an 1100 on his SAT.
