Brayden Gainey is a 2019 SS/RHP/C with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Chipley, FL who attends Chipley High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.45 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, set up nicely to the ball with smooth actions and threw from all angles. Quicker transfer with soft hands and arm strength up to 82 mph. At the plate, started with a slightly crouched stance, open base, and a deeper weight shift onto backside. Showed ability to lift the ball and use all fields with an extended line drive swing plane. Loose hands to the ball and swung with intent to drive it in the air. Also pitched, showed a loose arm action, stayed on-line to the plate, and threw from a lower three quarter arm slot. Worked exclusively from the stretch with a fastball at 76-77 mph and good arm side life. Pitched with impressive tempo and mixed in a curveball that showed 11/5 shape at 63 mph, he's a candidate to switch to a slider offering. Also flashed a straight changeup at 69 mph. Good student.
