Derek Diamond is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Ramona, CA who attends Ramona HS. Very athletic build, high waisted with slopped shoulders, lots of physical projection. Hands over the head delivery, lands closed out front, deep arm in back but gets it up in time, tight high 3/4's slot coming through, arm is loose and extended out front. Low 90's fastball, topped out at 93 mph, sits at the bottom of the zone, occasional arm side run, maintains his velocity well. Solid curveball spin, will occasionally drop his elbow and slot on it, has a nice change up with fading action. Tons of projection and chance to keep improving. Quality two-way prospect, agile actions in the infield with 6.71 speed. Right handed hitter with loose and fast hands and a fluid swing, line drive/middle of the field approach. One of the most projectable players in the class. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Stanford.
