David Luethje is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-5 190 lb. frame from Vero Beach, FL who attends Vero Beach HS. Large athletic build, body projects very well. Gets on top, of the ball well from a high 3/4's arm slot, pretty controlled delivery. Lower 90's fastball, topped out at 94 mph early, gets good arm side life, works well down in the strike zone, shows command to both sides of the plate. Change up was his best secondary pitch this outing, showed good feel for it with proper arm speed. Tends to slow arm on his slider and guide it, flashed good spin at times. Easy power arm that should keep developing, improvement in off speed pitches will be key. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Florida.
