Gustavo Bonilla is a 2017 C/OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Coral Springs, FL who attends Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS. Lean, athletic frame with square shoulders and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front, sound exchange and release, gains short ground with lower half out of crouch, gets on top of throws, athleticism to actions, accurate throws down to second base, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and uses a leg lift trigger at the plate. Simple overall approach, stays short to the ball and repeats swing well. Line drive swing plane with consistent contact to the middle of the field, can work to all fields though, contact approach and shows a feel for the barrel, projects with added physical strength.
