John Hamilton is a 2016 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-5 200 lb. frame from Reno, NV who attends Robert Mc Queen HS. Tall, lean frame with wiry strength throughout. Body projects for additional strength. Right handed pitcher with long limbs. Shows a shorter arm action back creating slight hook at separation and releases from a mid three-quarters arm slot. Baseball comes out of hand cleanly with a smooth arm stroke. Works over front side well while driving to the plate creating solid downhill angle on a fastball in the upper 70's to low 80's. Ball jumped out of hand well and seemed to get on hitter very quickly. Curveball has 10/4 shape with softer spin and some depth. Front side will swing open at times causes slight arm drag that creates inconsistent command at times. Right handed hitter wit a tall, straight stance and high hand set. Rotational lower half actions with some shift into contact. Shows a compact, line drive swing plane with a mid-field approach. Does show ability to let ball travel deeper in the zone and hit to opposite field. Development of extension through contact could lead to future pop that could split the gaps with more consistency. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing a shorter stride while throwing with a compact arm action, topped at 79 mph. Throws produced some on line carry with accuracy to the bag. Developing glove actions while working through the baseball with clean glove to hand exchanges. Good range in the gaps while tracking the baseball, ran a 6.83 sixty-yard dash. Tools will continue to develop with maturity.
