2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Spencer Ammerman in a 2007 RHP/1B/3B from Paraclete HS in Acton, CA, with a 6'2", 165 lb. frame. Ammerman is a young pitcher with a long and lean body that is projectable. His fastball topped out at 72 mph with late movement down in the strike zone. On the back side of his delivery, he lays his pitching hand open putting more tension in his shoulder. Ammerman also mixes in a slow breaking ball at 57 mph that he can throw for strikes. He stays tall over the pitching rubber with good balance, and his long limbs make you think he is going to throw harder in the near future. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with a closed stance and high hands. Ammerman is a patient hitter who uses the whole field with projectable power. During the showcase games Ammerman showed good range to his left at first base taking away a couple base hits, and he showed good hands.
