Nick Derr is a 2016 SS with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Geneva, IL who attends IMG Academy HS. Strong athletic build, looks stronger than listed size, former football standout. Right handed hitter, wrapped barrel start, long stride into contact, aggressive swing, hand path to the ball is short enough, strength in swing with good extension out front, tends to overswing and pull his head off contact and was hitting over the ball, flashed his ability to drive the ball in batting practice. Shows very good arm strength in drills with quick hands fielding the ball, footwork and release still in the developing stages, third base likely future. Good student, verbal commitment to Florida State.
