2005 California Top Prospect Showcase
Ryan Brosnan is a 2006 OF from Santana HS, residing in Santee, CA, with a 5'10", 165 lb. frame. He has an athletic and lean body type with some intriguing liveliness. It is a good baseball body, capable of the short, explosive bursts that separate top players from average players. Brosnan hits from a square stance with a slightly open stride and has a short swing with good bat speed. He does a nice job of staying in the middle of the field. His hands work well to the ball and he takes an aggressive swing that can slash through the zone. Brosnan looks like he would be suited well to the lead off spot, as he runs well and is a solid contact type hitter who does not hit many lazy fly balls. Defensively he sets up to ball very well in the outfield and is quite a good defensive player. The ball exits hand well with good velocity and has carry. That burst ability he has is an asset in the outfield when it comes to getting jumps and chasing down the ball. Brosnan is a solid player with some lively abilities, a very interesting follow for the D1 level. If you see him enough, you come to understand that he will be able to compete in most programs sooner rather than later due to his athleticism and hand/eye coordination.
