Derek Casey is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Mechanicsville, VA who attends Hanover HS. Long slender athletic build, loose actions, projects physically. High 3/4's arm slot, on line delivery with good lower half use, big high energy arm swing in back, fast arm coming through with steep downhill angle. Fastball to 92 mph, maintains velocity from the stretch, good arm side running action at times. Two different breaking balls with different shapes, both spin hard and have sharpness, has nice arm side run/sink on change up. Very good present stuff, has been up to 93 mph at times. Very good student, verbal commitment to Virginia.
