Robert Crabtree is a 2006 first baseman from Kingwood, Texas, with a nice projectable baseball body. He’s limited to first base and left field by his throwing arm, but is a good runner who should be able to handle the outfield. Crabtree’s hitting mechanics are a bit raw, but he showed impressive juice in his bat in batting practice and in games, and this is going to be his ticket. He hits out of a tall, narrow stance. Crabtree drops his hands late in a big hand hitch and never really gets them back up. His late hitch leaves him hitting the ball to right field consistently, but the ball will really jump off his bat when he makes solid contact. He one hopped the centerfield wall at 400’ in one game, and lined some balls hard to RCF in batting practice. Crabtree has plenty of room to get better at the plate if he can make some adjustments in his hitting mechanics. Crabtree is an outstanding student who will qualify at most of the top academic institutions in the country.
