2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Perez is an "04" SS/3B with a lot going for him. At 6'2/187 he is athletic and strong. Kind of an Arod type body. He runs well and has a nice strong arm. He has pretty good actions, but stops to field and then throws. He needs to work on fielding through the ball instead of stopping. His arm would play even bigger. He has a real good feel for the game and what's going on around him. At the plate he lunges at times, but he has big time hitting ability and from both sides of the plate. Serious bat speed and serious power potential. Melvin has tons of ability and is a good student as well.
