2005 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Mark Anderson is a 2008 C/P from Bishop McNamara HS in Waldorf, MD, with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame. He showed very good arm strength for his age at 76 mph. His pop times will get quicker as he speeds up his release. He showed some lower half quickness in moving to balls laterally and is a 7.50 runner in the 60. Anderson hits out of a wide stance with high hands and a big leg tuck trigger that turns his whole body away from the pitcher. This leaves him in poor position to get his swing started and to gain leverage at contact. Anderson showed pretty good ability to control the bat head despite this and made consistent contact to the middle of the field. Getting better balance and direction in his swing will really help him as he looks to have natural hitting tools. Anderson also pitched and threw 78 mph on his fastball from a simple cross body delivery. He threw a couple of 68 mph curveballs but was primarily a fastball pitcher. Anderson is a very good student.
