Javon Johnson is a 2027 SS/RHP/C with a 5-5 152 lb. frame from Jacksonville, FL who attends Paxon School/Advanced Studies. A compact frame and medium build. Ran a 7.72 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder who had a whippy arm action throwing across the diamond. His feet moved well, getting in position to make the play with the glove. Threw 72 mph across the infield. Also worked out as an outfielder, fielding it with two hands and showing one-hop accuracy to the bag. Threw 75 mph from the outfield. Worked out as a catcher with even feet, replacing them and gaining ground working through the throws. Had some quickness to his release. Threw 71 mph and produced a 2.28 pop time. A right-handed hitter with high-set hands and a high-back elbow. He starts real wide and gets the hands to the ball with good intent. Was able to work to the opposite field during his round of BP, getting the barrel to it and sending it the other way. Also took to a right-handed hitter who worked from the wind-up, using a side-step into a leg lift up around the belt with the shin out working with an out-and-around style. Throws from an over-the-top arm slot with some whip to the arm path. Had some trunk tilt working into release, creating a high three-quarters arm slot. His fastball was up to 78 mph with some arm-side run to it. He located in to right-handed hitters and was able to jam them. Had some downhill plane on the fastball due to the arm slot. Also showed a 12-6 shaped curveball that had some good depth to it. Efficient stuff on the mound, went out there and competed. Struck out 1 over his inning of work. Good student.
