Mikey Watson is a 2027 3B/RHP with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Steger, IL who attends Brother Rice. A taller and lean frame with a slender build. Room to keep filling out the frame moving forward. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman who worked out as an infielder throwing 74 mph across the diamond. He used the length to his levers well during the round of defense and created some whip to a loose arm stroke across the diamond. Adjusted arm slots working through the round. He showed off quick footwork with some feel for the actions, especially working laterally. A right-handed hitter with a wider base, higher-set hands, and a high back elbow. He was able to drive the ball to the middle of the field during his round of swings. Took a good round of BP with a real clean and easy swing, being able to stay through the middle and show off the bat speed. Projectable actions with the stick shown, translating to three hits in-game, including a double. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with who worked from the wind-up with a leg lift up around the belt, getting just above the belt before separating and working downhill. He threw from a higher three-quarters arm slot, showing some looseness to the arm stroke. Used long levers well on the mound. He carries the front side well, working down the mound. It's a slower and deliberate start on the mound with a sidestep into his leg lift. The fastball was up to 77 mph with some downhill and natural cut to it at times. He showed a curveball with 11/5 shape to it. He tried to get in glove side and establish the outer third to right-handed hitters early on. He threw 1 and 1/3 innings, striking out all 4 outs he recorded during the outing. Great student.
