2022 Northern California Prospect Showcase
Ryan Ulmen is a 2024 3B/RHP with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Simi Valley, CA who attends Oak Park. Medium to large frame with quality traits in the infield. He displays sound foot work and glove that funnels well to the chest. Quick efficient transferee of the baseball with some intent on accurate throws across the diamond. At the dish, he hits from both sides. Right side is a big forward weight shift out of a wide spread set up. Bat path is short and direct to the ball. Left side, was better with more rhythm and tons more juice to the pull side with lofted path through the zone. On the mound, he utilizes a strong lower half getting good push and working comfortably down the plane. The mid to high three-quarters slot showed to be deceptive to pair with late life on through the zone on a heater 73-76. The feel for the slider stood out the offering showed late bite and produced whiffs in bunches. Potent two pitch mix. Mixed tempos throughout a crisp inning of work. 7.56 60-yard. Good Student. Named to the Top Prospect list.
