Jacob Golliday is a 2008 C with a 6'1'', 172 lb. frame from Kill Devil Hills, NC who attends First Flight HS. He has a lean and slender build with very good body life and projection. Golliday stood out in all areas of the game at the showcase and was one of the top prospects. His defense skills/tools were very good. Golliday threw a very strong 79 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.86 and looked compact and under control doing it. His game throws were quick and accurate as well. His athletic ability and quickness were a big plus behind the plate and he projects to keep getting better. At the plate, Golliday has a busy load with his hands but has the hand strength and quickness to explode quickly to the ball and he showed whippy bat speed and good gap to gap power. Golliday's game approach was very balanced and he made consistent hard contact against live pitching. Golliday is a 7.12 runner who has first step quickness on the bases, too. He projects well physically and has good offensive tools for a catcher. He is a good student off the field.
