Joey Leinweber is a 2009 MIF with a 5'9'', 170 lb. frame from Edgewood, WA who attends Puyallup HS. He has a compact and athletically proportioned body type on a medium/smallish frame. Leinweber is a good ballplayer who has some feel for the game. You can see that he has spent a lot of time around the game with his steady, get-it-done style of play. Offensively Leinweber competes well at plate. He is a line drive contact hitter with good hands and a quick bat. His approach is quiet and he looked like he would make a good two-hole someday. Defensively he played quite well, showing good hands and the ability to simply make plays. Leinweber was particularly good on balls to his left and showed off a solid arm and good release. His hands and feet work well together. At the high school level he can stay at shortstop though he likely moves to 2nd base in college at some point.
