Frederick “Blayne” Macdonald is a 2027 SS/RHP with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Hurst, TX who attends Keller. Large, square shouldered frame with present strength to build and additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.86 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves with some intent to work behind the ball, gets low and fields it out front, clean glove skill to the backhand, very short and compact arm action through the backside, arm strength/carry will continue to develop moving forward. Also pitched, controlled delivery and incorporates lower half well to drive down the mound; balanced operation with a medium arm action through the backside and does a nice job of getting extended out front. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, heavy cutting action on the offering through the zone and able to miss bats in the zone; nice shape to downer curveball with tight spin up to 64 mph, tends to drop slot slightly at release. Right-handed hitter, incorporates strength well into swing and turns over the barrel well, lifting the ball out front with intent. Creates some present bat speed through the zone and shows jump off of the barrel when squared, occasionally opens front side early and gets rotational but shows nice power upside moving forward. Excellent student. Named to the 13/14u South Central Top Prospect List.
