Owen Burnes is a 2028 LHP/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Milton, MA who attends Dexter Southfield. Advanced build for the age. The delivery is balanced with a core high lift and easy extension down the plane. The arm stroke is fluid with standard three-quarters release. Fastball has subtle arm side run and induced whiffs working off the plate arm side away from right handed bat. Mixed in a changeup semi-frequently, stood out as the pitch he feels most comfortable executing. Pretty solid one for the age, maintained arm speed and got hitters to commit. Flashed a breaking ball but got underneath and sailed it a bit, had solid depth when properly thrown. Plenty of things to like about the athleticism and repeatability of the actions down the plane. The actins defensively were comfortbale with easy glovework at first base and an arm that plays with solid strength and accuracy. At the dish, he sets up in a wide slightly open stance with hands low. Utilizes a deep toe tap for timing with hands that work linear to contact. Approach leaned pull heavy. 8.26 60-yard. Outstanding student.
