2022 Summer Midwest Workout Showcase (July 7)
Logan Wirtz is a 2027 SS/OF with a 5-5 120 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny Centennial. He has a smaller frame with a thin, athletic build and plenty of physical development left ahead of him. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.36 seconds. Primary shortstop that has choppy steps when working to and around the ball. He has developing feel for the glove and will be able to control his body more as he gets older and stronger. He has a longer transfer and throws with a short arm action across the infield. Secondary outfielder that is patient in fielding the ball and fields it in front of his body. He has the same short arm action here that he did in the outfield and throws with a quick transfer. Right-handed hitter that starts in an even base that is slightly open with a high back elbow and his hands back in the stance. He uses a toe tap trigger for timing and does a nice job of working through the swing with his lower half. He has a line drive approach and looks to work the ball into the gaps.
