Luke Samples is a 2027 RHP/1B with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Durham, NC who attends C E Jordan. Outstanding young athletic build, really projects physically. Works from the stretch with a deep arm plunge in back that can leave his arm late at times, high 3/4's arm slot, creates nice angle and leverage when down in the strike zone. Worked mostly in the 74-77 mph range with his fastball but reached back for more easily when he wanted it, had good command of his fastball. Mixed in a soft curveball and a change up at times but primary worked with his fastball. Plenty more velocity there as he physically matures. 7.80 runner in the sixty. Worked out all over the field in drills but is a primary first baseman on defense. Right handed hitter, hits from a a tall and narrow stance with a high hand load, steep downhill path into contact, puts the ball in the air consistently with back spin. Interesting young arm and body. Named to the 13U/14U Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
