Ryan Brown is a 2024 3B/RHP, UT with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Patuxent River, MD who attends Great Mills. Medium, strong looking frame with room to physically mature. Primary third baseman with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Moves side-to-side with deliberate footwork, displayed a clean funnel and worked through the baseball with active feet. Showed athleticism and produced accurate throws up to 85 mph across the diamond during infield drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with subtle movements into a belt high leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Generates good hip, shoulder separation at foot strike and accelerates through release. Fastball worked in the low-80s for the majority of his outing, ticking up at times and topped out at 84 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with command to both sides of the plate and the ability to elevate with his fastball when ahead in the count. Showed ability to land more traditional curveball with vertical tilt to it for strikes and faded changeup was effective against left-handed hitters. Will continue to improve with minor refinements mechanically and additional velocity. Took part in both the catching and first baseman portion of the defensive workouts, where he showed similar arm strength during drills and still developing skill sets at both positions. Possesses tons of upside on the mound moving forward. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, even base with a flatter hand start and hanging trigger for timing. Middle-of-the field approach with heavy barrel, tons of strength at impact and advanced feel for the barrel. Showed ability to turn the barrel over on the inner-half when necessary and has legitimate, usable power. Will continue to improve in all facets of his game with proper adjustments mechanically and additional strength. Named to the 2023 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent Student.
