Hoilman is a right handed hitting 6-3 first baseman from Tennessee who is very strong for a 2007 prospect. He ran the 60 in 7.56 and threw 79 mph during infield drills. He also plays some third base and showed a nice glove there in game action and should continue working at that position. Hoilman has a sound balanced approach at the plate with a line drive swing plane and a short swing path that uses his strong hands well. Hoilman looks to drive the ball hard up the middle and to the opposite field and made consistent hard contact doing that, including three game hits. When he learns to turn on the ball and loft it occasionally, Hoilman will become a dangerous and well rounded hitter, because the physical ability is there. He’s a good athlete who should be followed closely for future development. Hoilman is also an outstanding student.
