O'Koyea Dickson is a 2008 1B/OF with a 5'10'', 205 lb. frame from San Francisco, CA who attends George Washington HS. He has a unique build, with a big, strong, powerful lower half yet a somewhat lean athletic upper body. In any case, Dickson has a chance to really hit. He has very strong hands and loose wrists that allow those hands to fly with ease. He has plus bat speed and his swing happens with little effort. The ball jumps off Dickson's bat and when he stayed on the ball with his lower half he was able to drive the ball to all fields, with power. The term 'hitterish' comes to mind with Dickson, meaning that he has that certain something that says HITTER. He does tend to hunt for the ball middle/in and that is an approach that can work situationally but not as an overall approach. Defensively he was really good around the bag. His feet are smooth and light and you can tell he has been coached well. His arm is strong and his throws track on-line. With his soft hands, good feet, and tracking throws, Dickson just might have what it takes to be a really good catcher, which would make his bat that much more intriguing. He could also find himself playing in the left field. The one thing that might hold him back from being seen as an everyday 1st baseman is that he is 5'10". He did play some in the outfield and he played well out there.
