Angel Gonzalez is a 2028 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-3 120 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA. Smaller, athletic frame with plenty of time to physically mature. Recorded a 7.22 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary outfielder with an advanced, very fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Uses aggressive actions into the fielding process, gathers cleanly off his front foot and transitions nicely into release. Maintained momentum to deliver accurate throws up to 82 mph during drills. Covers a ton of ground from gap-to-gap. Secondary left-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a belt high leg lift, medium stride length out to foot strike and full arm swing on the backside. Fastball worked in the 74-77 mph range for the duration of his outing from a lower, extended three-quarters arm slot. Strike thrower with the ability to use all four quadrants effectively, fastball plays up in the zone and showed some feel for spin with slurve shaped breaking ball. Will continue to refine and advance repertoire with additional velocity and addition of third pitch. Took part in the first baseman portion of the defensive workout as well, where he showed excellent agility around the bag and a clean funnel out in-front. Displayed some quickness to his turns and was fairly accurate on his throws up to 77 mph across the diamond. Left-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and negative toe-tap loading mechanism. Whole field approach with simple, repeatable line drive stroke and some whip to his barrel. Displayed consistent line drive contact with the ability to manipulate the barrel well, will continue to expand his power potential with additional strength. Fundamentally sound, young prospect with plenty of likable components to his game, will continue to improve with minor refinements and additional physical maturity.
