Derek Schaefer is a 2023 RHP/IF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Cactus Shadows. Slender young build with lots of room to get stronger. High leg raise and kick out to start his delivery, over the top arm slot, lands on a stiff front leg and doesn't always get over his front side. Fastball worked up to 92 mph with good downhill angle, mostly straight with occasional arm side running life. Change up is nice pitch with nice running life. Threw both a curveball and slider, curveball was the better pitch this outing with nice depth and bite.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
