2007 South Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Herr is a 2009 RHP/1B with a 6'8'', 215 lb. frame from Katy, TX who attends Katy. Tyler has a very large and slender frame with some present strength and room to go. He is tall and lanky on the mound and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He is a very projectable player, and he got better and better as he went. His arm works well, and he is only a medium effort guy. His mechanics all work well with good arm extension, and he gets off the mound and fields his position very well. His fastball topped at 88 mph, and his command was good. His curveball spun tighter as he went along, and he was dropping it in for consistent strikes in his final inning of work. He will throw harder. At the plate he hits from an upright stance, and has a short swing for a guy his size. He hits from a low hand set and makes some good solid contact. Defensively he has good actions at first base, and good arm strength going across the diamond with a top velocity at 85 mph. He was named a top prospect for the showcase. Tyler is also a good student.
