Tony Woodie is a 2023 1B/3B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Loxahatchee, FL who attends Palm Beach Central. Large, athletic frame with broadness to shoulders and a high waist, present strength to frame. Ran a n 8.63 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, takes short steps off the bag and shows balance on the turn, developing actions at the ball, shows accuracy on throws. Fields to side in the outfield, full arm action through the back and works over front side, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release, arm strength will continue to develop. Switch-hitter, shows more present fluidity from the left side; begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Full swing path through the zone, looks to pull at point of contact, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into swing. Similar high hands and back elbow start from the right side, linear path through the zone and stays short to it, occasionally gets around the ball, shows carry when squared. Good student.
