Zach Silva is a 2021 RHP/1B with a 6-4 225 lb. frame from Arroyo Grande, CA who attends Arroyo Grande HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and a solid build. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed positions with front but carries momentum towards the plate. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated solid downward tilt with cutting action to glove side in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Slider showed shorter tilt to glove side with soft spin in the low 70's. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that matched arm slot of fastball in the low 70's. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean glove actions while funneling the baseball. Developing range while coming of the bag with sound footwork while pivoting. Released from a loose arm slot creating on line carry across the infield at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and reaching front side trigger. Deep hand load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Varies barrel plane but primarily looked to lift the baseball out front. Flashed some strength with the ability to spit the gaps when on time and squared. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
