Carlos Diaz is a 2017 OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Caguas, PR who attends Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders, full of quick-twitch muscle, has present strength and additional room to fill. Plus runner, posted a 6.37 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, speed to stick in center field, work behind the ball well, soft hands fielding out front, works over front side well and stays on line through release, quick transfer into a compact arm action and lower release point, repeats well, shows strength and carry out of the hand. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box, uses a leg lift trigger for timing at start of swing. Upper body dominant swing, short swing path through the zone and direct to the ball, looks to work the pull side. Can turn on balls and shows line drive contact into right field, comes off the barrel well when squared up. Named to World Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student. Committed to Broward CC.
