Franco Alonso is a 2019 SS/RHP with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Glendale, CA who attends Polytechnic HS. Alonso has a lean projectable build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from a slightly open stance, linear hands and lower half into swing. Keeps hands inside and uses whole field hitting. Shows bat speed and gap to gap power potential. Makes consistent contact with his fluid line drive swing plane. Defensively, circles ball well with solid footwork, longer arm action to high 3/4 release. Overall actions are developing yet, but athleticism is there. Also pitches, clean and online delivery, low effort arm action to a high 3/4 release that is easily repeatable. Has good extension. Mixes in curveball with 12/6 shape with sharp break. Will firm up as he matures but feel is there for curveball. Outstanding Student.
