Ben Fariss is a 2017 RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Valencia HS. Strong athletic build. Long and full arm action, stays on line well, creates lots of angle with a 3/4's arm slot, arm works well and is smooth out front, will spin off out front at times. Fastball topped out at 92 mph, mostly straight but the angle makes it tough on right handed hitters. Hard slurve type breaking ball with tight spin and sharpness. Has a nice feel for his change up with nice fade and quality arm speed. Works down in the zone with all his pitches and has a feel for getting to both sides of the plate. Quality three-pitch mix and the ability to use it. Very good athlete, potential two-way prospect as a college player, shows bat speed from the right side with a fluid swing and some leverage out front. Shows his arm strength in the outfield and runs a 7.09. Good student, verbal commitment to UC Santa Barbara.
