Jackson Gillis is a 2016 LHP/1B with a 6-3 225 lb. frame from Wilmington, MA who attends Wilmington HS. Strong and physical build, especially in the lower half. Leg and hand raise delivery, late and high hand separation, quick arm action from a 3/4's slot, hides ball well in back and has some deception. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, occasional cut down in the zone and can ride it up above barrels as well. Two types of breaking ball, soft curveball with a 1/7 break and some depth, tends to guide the pitch, will drop his slot a bit for a big sweeping slider at just a bit higher velocity. Did not show a change up but showed a feel for pitching and will likely develop a solid one in the future.. Good student, verbal commitment to Vanderbilt.
