Kevin Gowdy is a 2016 RHP with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA who attends Santa Barbara HS. Long and loose young build, has outstanding physical projection. Full hands over head delivery, slow paced and stays tall on his backside, very balanced and on line delivery, high 3/4's arm slot with big downhill angle to the plate. Fastball up to 94 mph, best velocity he's shown to date and there is plenty more there, absolutely pounded the bottom of the strike zone this outing, fastball mostly straight but spotted with precision. Breaking ball has slider speed but curveball shape and depth, very tight spin and biting action, second potential plus pitch. Quality change up with ideal arm speed and nice fading action. High level three pitch mix, could have retired highest level hitters this outing. Good student, verbal commitment to UCLA.
