Ray Hernandez is a 2014 3B/RHP with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Orlando, FL who attends Colonial HS. Very good athletic build, tall and strong. 7.34 runner, smooth and balanced defensive actions, soft hands at third base, accurate throws with good arm strength, will have to continue to work on foot quickness and range to stay at third, showed good actions at first base as well. Right handed hitter, high hands with a wrapped barrel start, open stance, long rotational swing with good bat speed, gets extended with good looseness, some uppercut in his plane, power approach, ball comes off the barrel well but will have to take steps to shorten up at the next level. Also pitched, tall back turn delivery, high 3/4's arm slot, gets downhill well. Fastball to 84 mph, mostly straight. Nice curveball with sharp 10/4 sweeping break, gets nice sink on his change up. Deceptive delivery with 3 pitches, has a chance to continue to improve on the mound. Good student, signed with Indian River State College.
