LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2004 National Showcase
Scott Van Slyke is a tall lean strong 6'5/210 OF from St Louis, MO. He is big and athletic yet still projects to get stronger and better. Van Slyke showed lots of natural hitting ability but seemed to have problems keeping his hands in. He did hit hard ropes to the pull side during BP. His raw power is impressive and he always found a way to hit the ball hard. His foot-speed and arm are both MLB playable tools now and should continue to get better. With his great body, athletic ability and bloodlines he has the chance to become a very good draft pick in ‘05. His father Andy was an all star caliber major league outfielder with a similar but maybe not quite as strong body. Scott is a very good student who has a very bright future.
